The Heritage for Digital and Literacy Learning project aims to engage primary school pupils by enhancing their literacy and digital skills through the exploration of European cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible. The four draft eBooks, “Claire and the Angels of Mons”, “The Easter Horse Procession”, “Mysterious meeting in the Silve Mine” and “Victor at the Town Hall” serve as creative and interactive stories designed to immerse students in the rich cultural history of Europe.

1. “Claire and the Angels of Mons”

Claire’s journey takes readers back to 1914 during the Battle of Mons, Belgium, where the legend of angelic apparitions aiding Commonwealth soldiers comes to life. This narrative blends historical facts with interactive experiences, allowing students to engage with the past through audio, quizzes, and virtual exploration of significant locations like the Saint-Symphorien military cemetery.

2. “The Easter Horse Procession“:

This story introduces the tradition of the Easter horse procession in Gliwice, Poland, through the eyes of a young participant guided by his grandfather. It captures the cultural and familial significance of this heritage event, complete with details on its rituals, symbolism, and communal prayers for a prosperous season. Interactive features help students explore the procession’s unique customs and its evolution over time.

Kasia’s adventure in the Silver Mine of Tarnowskie Góry, Poland, combines mystery with cultural education.
