The Belgian partner, in preparation for presenting the first results of the project, proposed the very interesting Belfry of Mons. The Belfry of Mons, locally known as “Beffroi de Mons,” is a prominent landmark situated in the Grand Place of Mons. This medieval bell tower was built in the 17th century and is part of the Belfries of Belgium and France, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Belfry of Mons stands at approximately 87 meters and offers panoramic views of the city. The Belfry is an architectural gem that symbolizes the historical importance of the city. This tower is an ideal building to showcase the significance of the historical point together with mathematical and other aspects to the youngsters that were taken into account when constructing the tower.
